Thomas Edison & Henry Ford Winter Estates
Come visit the winter residences of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. These neighboring properties are located in Downtown Fort Myers, Florida and are a spectacular walk back to bygone era. They provided these great men a place to work, relax and enjoy the company of each other loved ones and family.
Both properties are next to the Caloosahatchee River. Thomas Edison’s “Seminole lodge” was completed in 1886 and Henry Ford’s “The Mangoes” was completed in the early 1900’s.
The Thomas Edison & Henry Ford Winter Estates is open daily 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. The Estates are closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Excellent! Stayed at Island Inn for the first time and was very impressed. At check in you get a packet of information about hotel amenities, tide charts, businesses that are open, information about turtle nests, etc - very well organized. Walking through the front door of my room, I was greeted by a panoramic view of the beach. Room was very spacious with a bedroom, living area, full kitchen and a large screened in balcony. There are sliding doors so each area can be separated for privacy if desired. If it was pet friendly, it would be my go to place when I visit Sanibel once or twice a year. read more
